George Giaglis
Professor George M. Giaglis is Director of the Institute for the Future at the University of Nicosia, as well as a leading expert on blockchain technology and applications and advisor to many blockchain projects and technology start-ups. George has been working on digital currencies and blockchain since 2012, with his main focus being on new forms of industrial organization (programmable smart contracts, decentralized applications and distributed autonomous organizations) and new forms of corporate financing (token economy, crypto-economics and ICOs). He has been one of the first academics to research and teach on blockchain, having: designed the curriculum of the world’s first full academic degree on blockchain (MSc in Digital Currency at the University of Nicosia); led the development of blockchain credentialing technology that has resulted in the first ever publishing of academic certificates on the blockchain; taught on the disruptive innovation potential of blockchain, both at academic programs and in executive seminars worldwide; organized a number of prominent blockchain conferences and events, including Decentralized. Throughout his career, he has published more than 10 books and 150 articles in leading scientific journals and conferences, while he is frequently interviewed by media and invited as keynote speaker or trainer in events across the globe.

Konstantinos Votis
Dr. Konstantinos Votis, is a post-doctoral research fellow (Researcher grade C’) of the Information Technologies Institute (ITI) at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), Director of the Visual Analytics Laboratory, Head of the Blockchain Technologies Lab and Member of the European Union Blockchain Observatory and Forum. His research interests include Human Computer Interaction, Information Visualisation and Management of Big Data, Distributed Ledger Technologies, Knowledge engineering and decision support systems, as well as pervasive computing, with major application areas such as m-Health, eHealth, and personalized healthcare.

Vitalii Demianets
In 2016 Vitalii together with two other co-founders started norbloc AB, a fintech blockchain startup specialized in solving KYC problem for big financial institutions.
Previously, Vitalii was the lead developer of KnCMiner – the biggest ASIC Bitcoin mining hardware manufacturer of its time, and prior to that spent 15 years as the Head embedded software engineer at telecom equipment manufacturer Factor-SPE in Ukraine.
Vitalii holds a MSc in Applied Mathematics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). He is a full stack software architect, with a specialization in blockchain protocols and embedded software.

Elias Iosif
Dr. Elias Iosif is a senior researcher at the Blockchain Initiative – Institute For the Future, University of Nicosia. Dr. Iosif received the PhD degree from the School of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Technical University of Crete (TUC), Greece, in 2013. From 2007-2013, he was research assistant and post-doctoral fellow at TUC, where he participated in a number of research projects funded by the European Commission. During the period 2014-2017, he has been a post-doctoral researcher at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens, Greece. His areas of expertise include blockchains, machine learning, intelligent agents that understand human language and emotions, where he has authored/co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Klitos Christodoulou
Dr. Klitos Christodoulou is a faculty member of the Department of Management and MIS – Digital Currency at the University of Nicosia. He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science (2009) and an M.Sc. in Advanced Computer Science – with specialisation in Advanced Applications (2010), both from the University of Manchester, UK. In 2014 he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science (2014) from the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester, UK. From 2014 to 2015 he has been a member of the Information Management Group (IMG) in the School of Computer Science, at the University of Manchester where he engaged in various research and teaching activities.
His research is mostly focused on Data Management issues with a focus on Machine Learning techniques, specifically on how to leverage various Bayesian Inference models as a solution to challenges related to Data Integration. Moreover, Klitos has been conducting research in the areas of Distributed Ledger Technologies and Blockchain ledgers. He is also an Associate Editor at the Frontiers in Blockchain Journal.

Gregor Borosa
Gregor Borosa is one of the first UNIC’s MSc Digital Currency alumnus, with a passionate affinity to Bitcoin, blockchain and beyond. He has a background in computer science and has worked for several years as a lead software engineer in the central bank of Slovenia, working with payment and settlement systems, batch processing and monitoring systems.
Currently, he is freelancing as a consultant-developer and is also an instructor at the University of Nicosia’s MSc program Digital Currency, where he is a lecturer in a course focused on the applications of the blockchain technology and a co-lecturer in the course about programming on the blockchain.

Christos K. Filelis - Papadopoulos
Christos K. Filelis – Papadopoulos received his Dipl.-Eng. degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, in 2010 and his Ph.D. in Numerical Analysis and High Performance Scientific Computing from the same Department, in 2014. He authored and co-authored more than 60 publications, published in international journals, international conference proceedings and book chapters. His research interests include distributed ledger technologies, preconditioned iterative, multigrid and multilevel methods, computational mathematics and physics, high performance computing and simulation.

Nikolaos Tsoniotis
Nikolaos Tsoniotis holds a Master-of-Engineering in Electronic Engineering & Electronic Communication Eng. from the University of Hull. He has worked as a Telecommunications R&D Engineer for over a decade. He is a serial entrepreneur with Product & Business Development experience in the ICT and Energy sectors. His current focus lies in Innovation/Product Management and Research Commercialization. His interests include emerging technologies, namely A.I., Big Data and Blockchain, and how they can be applied in sectors such as Energy, Health and others.

Blockchain Architecture Analyst
Sofia Terzi
Sofia Terzi is a Blockchain Architecture Analyst and holds a BSc in Computer Science and an MSc in Information and Communication Technologies. She has worked as a Software and Database Developer for over a decade. Currently, as a research associate at CERTH/ITI, she designs and develops permissioned and permissionless Blockchain supported software solutions on the Internet of Things and e-government areas.

Anastasia Theodouli
Anastasia Theodouli received her Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and her MSc. in Information Systems from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2008 and 2011, respectively. Since June 2017, she has been working as a research assistant at CERTH / ITI with focus on Blockchain Technologies. More specifically, she deals with Blockchain platforms and tools evaluation, Dapps Development for Blockchain custom applications using Ethereum and Hyperledger projects, research on mobile Blockchain clients, and on applications of Blockchain to the Healthcare domain. In her area of specialisation are also Cryptography, Big Data Analytics, and Web Accessibility.

Konstantinos Moschou
Kostas Moschou received his diploma degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace. Currently he is a Blockchain developer at CERTH/ITI with deep knowledge on web3.js and node.js, focusing on writing smart contracts in solidity code and having hands-on experience in working on blockchain platforms (e.g. Ethereum, Hyperledger). He is passionate about Blockchain technology and its innovations.
